Quick answers

What is Microsoft Copilot training?

Microsoft Copilot training teaches people how to use Copilot inside the Microsoft 365 apps they already work in - Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Rather than a feature tour, it works through the tasks that fill a normal week: clearing an inbox, catching up on a missed meeting, turning notes into a document or making sense of a spreadsheet.

Sessions are hands-on and use your own files and messages, so people leave with prompts written for their role and a clear idea of what Copilot is good at and where it should not be trusted.

Training is delivered one-to-one or as a team workshop, remotely or in person, with written follow-up so the habits stick.

Why do teams struggle to use Copilot?

Copilot licences are usually switched on with no training attached. People open it, ask a vague question, get a bland answer and quietly stop using it.

The fix is rarely more features. It is knowing which few tasks Copilot genuinely speeds up, how to ask for what you want, and how to check the output before it goes anywhere near a client.

What Copilot training covers

  • Copilot in Outlook - triage, summarise threads and draft replies in your voice
  • Copilot in Teams - meeting recaps, action points and catching up on what you missed
  • Copilot in Word - first drafts, rewrites, tone and document summaries
  • Copilot in Excel - explaining data, spotting patterns and building formulas
  • Copilot productivity habits - prompts, checking rules and confidentiality
  • Workshops for teams rolling Copilot out across a department

Copilot training, app by app

The sessions are organised around where your time actually goes.

  • Copilot for Outlook

Summarise long threads, draft replies that sound like you, and clear a backlog without reading every message end to end.

  • Copilot for Teams

Recap meetings you missed, pull out decisions and actions, and turn a call into a written follow-up in minutes.

  • Copilot for Word

Turn rough notes into a first draft, tighten tone, shorten long documents and produce summaries for people who won't read the full thing.

  • Copilot for Excel

Ask questions of your own data in plain English, get formulas explained, and find the story in a spreadsheet faster.

  • Copilot productivity training

The prompts, habits and checking routine that make Copilot a daily tool rather than a novelty.

  • Copilot workshops

Half-day hands-on sessions for teams, with prompts written for each role and an agreed adoption plan.

Experience and training approach

Forthfield's training is delivered by Rachel Clark, who works day to day with Microsoft 365 tools alongside business owners and leadership teams. Sessions are built on the way people actually work, not on Microsoft's feature list.

  • Copilot taught inside Outlook, Word, Teams and Excel
  • Plain-English guidance for non-technical leaders
  • A written prompt library your team keeps afterwards

Microsoft Copilot training FAQs

Do we need Microsoft 365 Copilot licences before training?

For full app training, yes - Copilot needs to be switched on in your tenant. If you are still deciding, the free call covers whether the licences are worth it for your team first.

How long is a Copilot training session?

One-to-one sessions are usually 90 minutes. Team workshops typically run half a day, which gives everyone time to work through their own tasks.

Can Copilot training be delivered remotely?

Yes. Remote delivery over Teams works particularly well for Copilot, because everyone is already in the tool being taught.

Do you deliver in-person Copilot workshops?

Yes, across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and the wider UK. In-person sessions suit larger teams and mixed-confidence groups.

Is our data safe when using Copilot?

Copilot works within your Microsoft 365 tenant permissions, and training covers exactly what should and should not be put into any AI tool. You leave with simple written ground rules for the team.

What if some of the team are nervous about AI?

That is the normal starting point. Sessions are paced for non-technical people, with no jargon and no expectation of prior experience.
